Oregon CUPA-HR Spring 2024 Conference
The university's HR professionals had a great showing!
Thiry-eight University of Oregon human resources professionals attended the Oregon chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) conference May 2 and 3, held at the Embassy Suites in Hillsboro, OR. UO had the largest number of attendees of all the represented colleges and universities (group photo to the right!).
The conference covered a broad range of HR topics, including strategies for onboarding and recruitment to advance equity, and the impact of recent legal decisions on HR practices in higher education. Perennial Oregon CUPA-HR chapter favorite Paula Barran, partner at Barran Leibman LLP in Portland, presented legal updates with her usual frank good cheer, even singing a higher education HR-related musical theatre parody for us.
Sessions also emphasized the importance of creating psychologically healthy workplaces and addressed current labor landscape challenges, collective bargaining strategies, and the need for clear communication and policy implementation in HR management.
If you attended the conference and would like to provide feedback, the chapter has provided a post-conference survey.
The next Oregon chapter CUPA-HR conference will be held November 1, 2024 at the Chemeketa Eola event center in Salem, which is part of Chemeketa Community College. Save the date for a fun and educational day with your human resources colleagues!
