Professional Development Training Policy
The University of Oregon is committed to supporting faculty and staff in ongoing professional development and training to strengthen individual performance and advance the university’s mission. Professional development includes a wide range of learning activities, such as courses, workshops, eLearning, conferences, mentoring, and professional experience, that build job‑related skills, knowledge, and competencies.
Responsibility for professional development is shared across the university. The university provides learning opportunities and resources; unit leaders, department heads and supervisors work with faculty and staff to identify development needs and approve time and funding; and the individual actively engage in maintaining and enhancing their professional skills. Professional Development Opportunity Fund
The Professional Development Opportunity Fund (PDOF) provides financial assistance for staff development opportunities beyond what departments can afford. For more information, View Guidelines Here.
