Annual Salary Increases

Salary increases at the University of Oregon are established by employee group and in accordance with applicable university policies and collective bargaining agreements.

Officers of Administration

A multi-year salary increase plan will follow this schedule:

  • January 1, 2022 – 3 percent across-the-board
  • January 1, 2023 – 3 percent salary pool for merit increase
  • January 1, 2024 – 3 percent salary pool for merit increase

The 2022 salary increase will be applied across-the-board for all eligible employees in their current position on or before July 1, 2021. The increases in future years will follow all applicable HR guidance for merit increases, and additional information will be provided in fall of 2022 and 2023.

Eligibility

The following criteria is to be applied to OA across-the board increases for 2022:

Eligible OAs

  • UO employee in current position on or before July 1, 2021.
  • Employees with interim and temporary appointments.
  • OAs above the OA salary band maximum.

Ineligible OAs

  • OAs who started their current position after July 1, 2021.
  • Coaches on custom contracts.
  • OAs on an approved active performance improvement plan as of January 1, 2022.

Exception Requests

HR Operations will manage the limited exception process working directly with Unit leaders. In early December, Deans and Vice Presidents will be provided a list of employees who do not meet the salary increase criteria with instructions for requesting exceptions for:

  • OAs hired after July 1 and those who started their current position after July 1; and
  • Whose salary offer did not account for exclusion from the 2022 salary increase decision.

  • Faculty

    Salary increases for faculty are applied in accordance with the United Academics collective bargaining agreement. Negotiations for a successor contract are underway, which will include discussions about future salary increases. The salary article in the most recent agreement does not include provisions for 2022 salary increases.
