Education is a key component of retirement planning. UO employees have access to a variety of education resources and workshops provided on the retirement plans' websites (links provided below).
PERS Education Sessions
PERS offers a variety of education sessions to assist PERS members with the planning and preparation process. Explore PERS Education Session on the PERS website:
The UO Benefits office extends to you an invitation to receive one-to-one financial counseling from an investment adviser. This is an excellent opportunity to build a relationship with a Financial Planner as you save for retirement.
A limited number of counseling sessions are offered on campus, with new dates published about every three months. These sessions tend to book quickly. If you are unable to schedule a one-to-one meeting, contact the retirement plan administrator to discuss options.
Oregon Savings Growth Plan Workshop
A representative from Oregon Savings Growth Plan (OSGP) will conduct on-campus workshops in March. The workshops will provide information about the state of Oregon's deferred compensation plan as an option for retirement planning. Participants will learn:
- The difference between the 403(b) and 457 plans.
- How to choose from among a wide range of investments.
- Discover the difference between pre-tax and after tax contributions.
