Education is a key component of retirement planning.  UO employees have access to a variety of education resources and workshops provided on the retirement plans' websites (links provided below). Educational opportunities include:

Counseling Sessions

The UO Benefits office extends to you an invitation to receive one-to-one financial counseling from an investment adviser.  This is an excellent opportunity to build a relationship with a Financial Planner as you save for retirement.

A limited number of counseling sessions are offered on campus, with new dates published about every three months.  These sessions tend to book quickly.  If you are unable to schedule a one-to-one meeting, contact the retirement plan administrator to discuss options. 

Fidelity Counseling Session:

A Fidelity Retirement Counselor will be on campus for individual consultations on the dates listed below and can answer your questions regarding the Tax Deferred Investment and Optional Retirement Programs with Fidelity. The sessions will be held on:

February 20 and 27
March 1 and 8
April 9, 16 and 26

TIAA Counseling Sessions:

A TIAA Retirement Counselor will be on campus for individual consultations on the dates listed below and can answer your questions regarding the Tax Deferred Investment and Optional Retirement Programs with TIAA. The sessions will be held on:

Oregon Savings Growth Plan Workshop

A representative from Oregon Savings Growth Plan (OSGP) will conduct on-campus workshops. The workshops will provide information about the state of Oregon's deferred compensation plan as an option for retirement planning. Participants will learn:

  • The difference between the 403(b) and 457 plans.
  • How to choose from a wide range of investments.
  • The difference between pre-tax and after tax contributions.

Getting on the Right Path
