Academic Year 2022-23 Renewal Appointments

Career Faculty

Career bargaining unit faculty are considered ongoing and no notices or renewals will be required. Human Resources will be analyzing the annual FTE per the CBA to verify no adjustments are required and will notify units if any changes will be needed for AY23.

A report of TTF and Career non-bargaining faculty who are up for renewal is available in Cognos "Faculty Appointment & Renewal Report". These appointments are the responsibility of Departments who will create renewal RTOs in Banner PWAAPPT or using the bulk renewal form PWAAPBU. Follow the usual process of submitting RTOs for approval, and please send in time to meet the communicated deadlines from Human Resources and your dean’s office (If applicable).

Pro Tem and Visiting Faculty

Appointments are the responsibility of Departments who will create renewal RTOs in Banner PWAAPPT or using the bulk renewal form PWAAPBU. Follow the usual process of submitting RTOs for approval, and please send in time to meet the communicated deadlines from Human Resources and your dean’s office (If applicable).

Postdoctoral Scholar

Postdoctoral renewals should be submitted using their current rate, do not increase the rate on the renewal RTO for the annual step increase or for the NIH increases (except for 7/1 renewals, then you may adjust for the NIH rate but do not include any annual step increase). The step increases are managed with an automatic Banner process and putting the rate on the RTO will cause errors in the process. In the internal comments, please always confirm an IDP exists for the postdoc appointment

Faculty Promotions

For any faculty, Career and TTF, who are up for and receive promotion this spring, the promotion PRF and the corresponding promotion pay increase as indicated in the promotion letter, will be created and processed by University Human Resources based on the promotion approvals issued by the Office of the Provost. Departments should update their TTF Review information in Banner PWAREVW, but no other action is needed. Any request about 8%, that was not included in the promotion notice, will need to be submitted separately for approval via a memorandum and a PRF by the department (NOTE: this is rare, as most increases above 8% are part of the promotion review process).

Fixed Term OA or Post Retirement

Contact your talent buddy to request extension of a fixed term OA position prior to submitting a PRF to extend the appointment. Attach approval from HR Talent as a supplemental document to the appointment extension request.
