Request for Job-Share

Job-share policy

The University provides the option of job-sharing when mutual advantage is gained by both employee and the institution and is in keeping with Article 37 of the UO/OPEU Collective Bargaining Agreement governing job-share.

Conditions

  1. Vacation, sick leave, and holiday time will be earned on a pro-rata basis provided a minimum of 32 hours are paid each month.
  2. For less-than-full-time employees (including part-time, seasonal, intermittent, and job share employees), who have at least eighty (80) paid regular hours in the month, the Employer shall contribute a prorated amount of the contribution for full-time employees. This prorated contribution shall be based on the ratio of paid regular hours to full-time hours to the nearest full percent, except that less-than- full-time employees who have at least eighty (80) paid regular hours in a month shall receive no less than one-half (1/2) of the contribution for full-time
  3. employees.
  4. Established membership in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) will be maintained if a minimum of 600 hours is paid each year from one or more covered employers. New membership will be established according to PERS regulations.
  5. Performance appraisal and salary increase decisions will be determined by individual performance of the responsibilities in the position description.
  6. The position may be converted back to one full-time position if one of the employees resigns or is terminated.
  7. The position may be converted back to one full-time position if the department determines the arrangement to be unsatisfactory, or the position may be abolished in the event of budgetary restrictions or reorganization. First priority to fill single position will be given to incumbent(s) if conditions for certification to full-time employment exist.
  8. If more than one incumbent applies for the position, seniority provisions will prevail as determined by computation of service credits. Consultation with the Office of Human Resources will facilitate appropriate relocation, including mandatory assignment.
  9. The regular work schedule may not exceed 40 hours per week and may be revised by mutual agreement between employee and supervisor. Appropriate notice is to be given.
