RANK & SALARY: 12-month, Officer of Administration position. Salary commensurate with training and experience.

STARTING DATE: Position is available Fall 2009

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership for the recruitment and admission of prospective undergraduate and graduate students. Participate as a member of the School's executive leadership team.

Formulate, develop, and implement recruitment and retention strategies and enrollment policies for prospective music majors. These activities include working closely with music faculty and the University of Oregon Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid; managing target enrollments; gathering and assessing enrollment data; developing and implementing a comprehensive enrollment management plan; providing strategic leadership for the school's music scholarship allocation process; developing communication plans for prospective students; and developing procedures for maintaining applicant contact throughout the application and decision-making process.

Assist with implementation of the School's Diversity Plan, especially with regard to the recruitment of under-represented and international students.

Work closely with the school's recruitment committee, music faculty, and staff to arrange on- and off-campus visits, auditions, and interviews. Have detailed knowledge of various curricular requirements in order to facilitate the application decision process.

Actively participate in the development and execution of various recruitment processes including but not limited to audition days; state, regional, and national conferences; college fairs; outreach programs; and summer festivals. Work with alumni, community music programs, high schools and the school's web site to expand recruitment efforts.

Work closely with the Associate Deans for Graduate and Undergraduate Studies and representatives from central admissions to coordinate the graduate and undergraduate admissions processes.

Provide management, training and evaluation of any assigned support staff.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree with at least three years of related work experience (preferably in a college or university admissions office) required. Master's degree preferred (one degree or extensive background in music preferred). Knowledge of computer technology and database software relating to all aspects of the admissions and scholarship process is important. Must have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to work with diverse groups and manage multiple priorities. SCHOOL: The School has an enrollment of more than 400 music majors, 65 dance majors, and a faculty and staff of 100 plus 80 Graduate Teaching Fellows. A wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are offered from the baccalaureate through the doctoral level including programs in performance, accompanying, music education, composition, theory, history, jazz studies, piano and string pedagogy, conducting, music technology, and music with a liberal arts emphasis. The School is designated as the only full-range professional school of music in the Oregon University System.
