Essential Functions
Two positions, affiliated with the Safer Nanomaterials and Nanomanufacturing Initiative (www.greennano.org), focus on developing greener synthesis methods to produce metal and semiconductor nanoparticles and determining the design rules for safer nanomaterials through investigation of the bio-nano interface. One position aims to develop new synthetic methods and nanomaterials for these studies. The other position focuses on the structural characterization of nanomaterials and of the bio-nano interface. Both positions provide opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and academic-industry partnership, and access to state-of-the-art facilities with the Lorry I. Lokey Laboratories.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
A PhD in chemistry, materials science, or related field is required.
Description of the University and the Community
Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment of 20,000. The Eugene metro area (pop. 215,000) is in a region noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are about an hour's drive from the Pacific coast and the Cascade Mountains. The University is an AAU research institution and a member of the Pac-10 conference.
