o The University of Oregon University College of Education invites applications for a part-time (.5 FTE) Information Technology Consultant in Educational & Community Supports. This position may be increased to full-time based on increased funding.
o This is a classified position represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.
o University of Oregon positions that are at least half-time are eligible for excellent benefits, including health and dental, employer-paid retirement, and tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, sick and vacation leave.
o Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position may be required to take unpaid furlough days between September 1, 2009 and June 30, 2011.
o This position consists of both user technical support and systems administration support responsibilities. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in both areas as described in the qualifications section below. TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:

... basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems as generally obtained through an associate's degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.

In addition, this position requires at least 3 years experience involving both systems and staff technical support; demonstrated knowledge of and experience with Windows server and desktop operating system software, office applications, and computer troubleshooting and maintenance; good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Prefer candidates with bachelor's degree.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position provides computer support to faculty and staff in Educational & Community Supports. Duties include:
... installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer equipment, including desktop and notebook computers and their components, printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices; installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer software, including applications, operating systems, and networking software; assisting staff with technical problems associated with equipment, operating systems, and supported applications.
... identifying, researching, and resolving problems; conducting workshops as needed; making equipment and software purchase and usage recommendations consistent with staff and organizational needs.
... assisting systems administrator with server infrastructure; installing, configuring, upgrading, monitoring, and troubleshooting Windows server hardware and software, including operating system, backup, anti-virus, DNS, DHCP, IIS, and other services; providing system support for video conferencing, including installing, configuring, maintaining and assisting users with operation of Polycom and Tandberg video conferencing hardware and software; assisting with IT asset management, including collecting and entering data, generating reports, allocating equipment and surplus equipment at the end of its useful life.

2. Describe your experience with security systems and software, including Active Directory group policies, file security, firewalls, anti-virus software and Internet server security.

3. Describe your knowledge and experience with the installation, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Windows servers, domains, and Active Directory services.

4. Describe your experience and responsibilities in creating and maintaining technical documentation, reports, and recommendations.
