o The University of Oregon College of Education invites applications for a part-time (.5 FTE) Administrative Program Assistant.
o This is a classified position represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.
o University of Oregon positions that are at least half-time are eligible for excellent benefits, including health and dental, employer-paid retirement, and tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, sick and vacation leave.
o Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position may be required to take unpaid furlough days between September 1, 2009 and June 30, 2011.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:
... three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and
... lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
In addition this position requires expert computer skills, including word-processing, spreadsheet, and database software; professional writing, proofreading, and editing skills; ability to interpret laws, rules, policies, and procedures and be able to apply these to specific non-routine situations; commitment to respecting all groups and individuals and an understanding of issues related to working with diverse groups; demonstrated ability to use judgment in prioritization of tasks and to communicate professionally with a variety of people; commitment to confidentiality; outstanding customer service skills. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position coordinates the promotion and tenure process for the College of Education, coordinates faculty search process, and provides other administrative support. Duties include:
... managing promotion and tenure process for College of Education academic programs, including pre and post-tenure reviews; coordinating faculty, adjunct faculty, and GTF search processes, including serving as liaison with the Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, Academic Affairs, Payroll, and Graduate School.
... serving as an expert resource to department heads, business managers, and search committee chairs regarding relevant policies and procedures related to academic and GTF appointments, including promotion and tenure, pre and post tenure reviews, searches, hiring, and contracts.
... conducting research on established operating procedures, evaluating data, recommending course of action and/or developing new operations or procedural documentation.

2. Describe your professional writing experience, including preparing correspondence and other documents for internal and external audiences. Give examples of drafting, editing, and proofreading. Please indicate your proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and database computer applications.
3. Describe your experience providing administrative support to multiple people, including prioritizing requests, preparing and planning for meetings, tracking administrative detail, maintaining confidential records, and general administrative functions. Explain how you manage, organize, and prioritize your workflow generally, and how you integrate new and unexpected projects.
4. This position serves as liaison with other UO departments and serves as expert resource on policies and procedures for COE faculty, administrators, and staff. Describe experience that demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
