o The University of Oregon Services for Student Athletes office invites applications for a full-time Office Specialist 2.
o This is a classified position represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.
o University of Oregon positions that are at least half-time are eligible for excellent benefits, including health and dental, employer-paid retirement, and tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, sick and vacation leave.
o Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position may be required to take unpaid furlough days between September 1, 2009 and June 30, 2011.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:
... two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
... an associates degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology; OR
... graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience.
In addition, this position requires keyboard speed of at least 55 wpm; excellent customer service skills, excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures; ability to maintain professional demeanor in a high-paced student-athlete environment; advanced experience with word-processing and spreadsheet computer applications; excellent organizational skills; experience with office budgeting and accounting. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides reception, accounting, payroll, and general clerical support for the office of Services for Student Athletes (SSA). Duties include:
... maintaining personnel and payroll records; auditing monthly leave reports for unclassified employees; reviewing student employment forms for accuracy and completeness and submitting to Payroll Department; completing documents for new hires.
... maintaining departmental budget; reconciling monthly accounting reports; working with SSA staff to prepare base budget, budget projections, and detailed spending plans.
... preparing manuals related to SSA, including drafting, editing, proofreading, and completing final product.
... coordinating travel arrangements for SSA employees including, flights, hotel accommodations, rental vehicles, per diem expenses, and travel authorizations; processing invoices to be paid in Banner, tracking expense reports; preparing reimbursements for staff members; processing documentation for new employees to obtain Banner access.
... responding to inquiries regarding SSA programs and services; explaining and clarifying rules and procedures to students, staff, and faculty; making formal and informal presentations about SSA; performing general reception duties, including answering questions, resolving problems, and providing information; organizing and scheduling meetings and special events; arranging for office maintenance; providing tours and information to the public on new academic learning center.
