o The University of Oregon Office of Communications invites applications for a full-time Web Developer (Information Technology Consultant) in Web Communications.
o This is a classified position represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.
o University of Oregon positions that are at least half-time are eligible for excellent benefits, including health and dental, employer-paid retirement, and tuition benefits for employee or an eligible dependent, sick and vacation leave.
o Due to budgetary shortfalls, the person appointed to this position may be required to take unpaid furlough days between September 1, 2009 and June 30, 2011.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:
... basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems as generally obtained through an associate's degree in information systems or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.
In addition, this position requires demonstrated proficiency turning graphic templates (Photoshop or Fireworks files) into valid html/css; ability to quickly put website information into content management systems selected by supervisors; a minimum of one year experience independently implementing and maintaining websites using Drupal; a minimum of three years experience using CSS; ability to independently and collaboratively troubleshoot and solve problems; knowledge and experience with common office software; ability to follow and implement provisions of affirmative action and equal opportunities policies, including 508 compliant web design standards; experience in testing for and assuring optimal web user experience; commitment to and experience with promoting and enhancing diversity and equity.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides web development and other support services to the web communications team and their constituencies, serves as technical expert, and makes independent judgments about how best to implement technology to support communications objectives. Duties include:
... converting design templates into html/CSS and implementing designs from other team members into content management systems, including Drupal and WordPress; assuring websites are attractive, informative, and accessible; using independent judgment about how best to implement designer's creative direction using CSS; developing SQL databases, PHP, Javascript, or other language scripts and code for displaying web content and graphics on client websites; performing updating, maintenance, troubleshooting, and revisions for client websites.
... creating training documentation for website clients; training clients using formal presentations and informal communications in person or over the telephone.
... installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting web server hardware and software to meet the needs of clients, including web server applications, such as Apache or Microsoft IIS, and database applications, such as MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server, and other applications as assigned.
