o This is a classified position represented by SEIU local 503, Oregon Public Employees Union.

TO QUALIFY YOU MUST HAVE:

... 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of accounting courses AND an associate's degree in Accounting; OR
... one year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information; OR
... an equivalent combination of education and experience.

In addition this position requires experience creating and maintaining computer spreadsheets; strong attention to detail; ability to work accurately on multiple projects with frequent interruptions; strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position provides accounting and budget support for the School of Music and Dance. Duties include:
... reconciling accounts monthly to Financial Information System and Foundation ledgers and preparing adjustments as required; preparing journal vouchers; posting cash receipts; identifying out-of-balance conditions; making reversals or correcting entries; tracking internal expenditures and making adjustments; maintaining documentation; tracking errors through computerized accounting system and shadow system balance sheets; printing monthly payroll, transaction reports and ledgers; processing documents for travel reimbursements, purchase orders, and personal service contracts.
... assisting the Coordinator of Finance and Operations, including preparing current reports to program administrators about their budgets and to faculty on professional development accounts; creating systems, procedures, and controls to improve data flow, audit trail, and compliance with accounting standards; setting up new accounting balance systems annually; assisting with annual closing of books.
... preparing deposits from revenue sources such as ticket sales and student copier and following proper cash handling procedures; collecting and reviewing timesheets for student employees.

4. Describe your experience in processing reports and other documents, and creating/maintaining spreadsheets. Indicate if your experience included working with an automated financial information system. Specify experience providing other general clerical support such as preparing correspondence, maintaining files, and providing customer assistance.
